Case Studies

We love helping our clients solve complex problems and deliver top quality products.

Here are details of some of the projects we’ve worked on recently along with client feedback.

Turnkey Electronic Manufacturing

Having worked with a new customer through their prototype phase, following product launch, we built initial small batches to satisfy pilot orders. As the customer scaled, we scaled production to meet their demands.

Hundreds of units turned into thousands and then tens of thousands of units, culminating in a total of apx 250,000 units being produced, at a peak production rate of 5000 units per week, over a number of months.

PCB assembly, both SMT and THT, programming, test, configuration, final assembly, barcoding and packaging, all completed in house.

“The success and growth of our product would not have been achievable without the quality, service and flexibility we received from Protronix EMS.”

PCB Prototyping

When a leading scientific institution required a small quantity of boards producing, against a tight deadline and where quality was paramount, they came to us.

The boards would be transported to a remote location, where they needed to transmit data from under a 1.3km thickness of glacier ice. Failure and any rework in the field was simply not an option and the boards were entirely mission critical.

A meeting with one of the technical leads on the project was set up and an understanding of what was required was established, this also gave the customer the opportunity to gain confidence in our ability to deliver a working product, on time.

The boards were built, tested and delivered. They were then transported to the glacier and successfully transmitted data to the team on the surface over the season, enabling the team to learn new things about our planet.

“Protronix EMS Ltd manufactured the circuit boards for our Cryoegg instrument. They sourced the components, PCBs and did the assembly on a very short timescale ready for our field tests in Greenland in the summer of 2019. The instrument performed very well during our tests, and it was able to send us measurements from beneath 1.3km of ice.”

Cable Assembly

We were approached by a customer who required a cable assembly which needed to operate in extreme conditions, under both constant vibration and chemical attack.

A meeting of the companies’ respective process engineers was arranged and accepted methods agreed upon. A long term relationship for the manufacture of this cable began, through the life cycle of the product.

“Protronix EMS provided us with reliable cable assemblies and continuous on-time delivery during our products life cycle”

Component & PCB Supply

We were approached by a company whose previous experiences had meant they were paying high prices or receiving poor quality boards.

Through our established supply chain, we were able to provide them with top quality, UL certified boards, at highly competitive prices. Their requirements range from a handful of boards through to medium scale production volumes, in a variety of specifications.

Through our supply chain, we know we have the correct fit for every requirement.

“Following mixed results with PCB suppliers, we approached Protronix EMS for some bare boards. They provide us with quality UL certified boards, at pricing we cannot beat elsewhere. We assemble in-house, but Protronix EMS provide all our bare boards, in various laminates, layer counts and finishes.”

PCB Assembly

When a specialist lighting manufacturer required an additional batch of LED panels producing, outside of their existing suppliers fixed schedule, they came to us. Our automated high speed SMT line quickly processed these boards.

LED panels are typically densely populated, this is where placement speed counts. We were able to assemble these boards far quicker than the original supplier.

This meant not only could we meet the required delivery date, but we could lower the customers costs too. As a result, ongoing production requirements were transferred to us.

PCB Assembly

Having experienced less than acceptable yields on their product, a studio grade audio manufacturer entrusted us to build a batch of boards for them.

The boards were assembled to IPC-A610 Class 3 acceptance standards… as standard. The customer reported a 100% acceptance rate upon test, this was something they had not experienced before.

What the cause of their previous issues were, is not known to us, but sourcing genuine quality parts from our established supply chain and building product to the highest acceptance standards, surely contributed to the 100% acceptance rate of the product we supplied.
