PCB Prototyping Services UK

UK PCB Prototyping Services

Protronix EMS offers the FAST-EST (Every Single Time) UK PCB prototyping services.

In competitive marketplaces, time matters. We aim to be the fastest to quote and the fastest to build your PCB prototype, making you the fastest – and first – to market.

Our PCB prototypes are production-quality and, where viable, are made using production-grade tooling. This lowers the costs associated with re-tooling and reduces your lead-time when moving from prototype to production.

You may find that some PCB prototyping services require you to free-issue the components. At Protronix EMS, we provide full or partial procurement and, when available and subject to terms, offer low-volume common-value passives free of charge.

A new product introduction is a unique opportunity for any company. PCB prototyping gives you the confidence you need to take your design to full production. It’s a chance to test a concept, either with a one-off design and assembly or a small batch run.

Just as importantly, this step can identify opportunities for cost savings, give certainty in forecasting full production costs and timescales, and get your products to market faster.

The prototype phase is the ideal time to take advantage of our ‘Design for Cost’ service.

We tap into our traceable supply chain to identify alternative parts for your PCB build that – while meeting the product’s performance requirements – could offer significant cost savings and even faster and greater availability.

Not all PCB prototyping means starting from scratch. Many of our long-standing clients have come to us with revised product designs.

We believe that changes which might seem relatively straightforward should still go through a prototyping phase.

Especially when you can receive a set of production-grade, fully functional PCB prototype assemblies a few days after we’ve received your BoM and Gerber pack.

The bottom line on PCB prototyping

When a leading scientific institution required a small quantity of boards producing, against a tight deadline and where quality was paramount, they came to us.

The boards would be transported to a remote location, where they needed to transmit data from under a 1.3km thickness of glacier ice. Failure and any rework in the field was simply not an option and the boards were entirely mission critical.

A meeting with one of the technical leads on the project was setup and an understanding of what was required was established, this also gave the customer the opportunity to gain confidence in our ability to deliver a working product, on time.

The boards were built, tested and delivered. They were then transported to the glacier and successfully transmitted data to the team on the surface over the season, enabling the team to learn new things about our planet.

“Protronix EMS Ltd manufactured the circuit boards for our Cryoegg instrument. They sourced the components, PCBs and did the assembly on a very short timescale ready for our field tests in Greenland in the summer of 2019. The instrument performed very well during our tests, and it was able to send us measurements from beneath 1.3km of ice.”

The success and growth of our product would not have been achievable without the quality, service and flexibility we received from Protronix EMS.

Founder and CEO, IoT Company

Protronix EMS provided us with reliable cable assemblies and continuous on-time delivery during our product's life cycle.

Following mixed results with PCB suppliers, we approached Protronix EMS for some bare boards. They provide us with quality UL certified boards, at pricing we cannot beat elsewhere. We assemble in-house, but Protronix EMS provide all our bare boards, in various laminates, layer counts and finishes.

PCB prototypes are fully functional, assembled PCBs used to test ideas for new products to see if they work before putting the product into full production.

This iteration process is an essential part of the design process when developing new products and helps you make sure everything is right before you produce the product on a larger scale. Just as importantly, this step can identify opportunities for cost savings, give certainty in forecasting full production costs and timescales, and get your products to market faster.

In competitive marketplaces, time matters. We aim to be the fastest to quote and the fastest to build your PCB prototype, making you the fastest – and first – to market. Assembled prototypes have been delivered to customers within 36hrs. For the best balance between time and cost, we advise 5-7 days.

We’ll need the PCB Gerbers and BoM to be able to give you a quote. Once we have these we’ll aim to get your quote to you in 24hrs.

Yes of course! Once your product is ready to go into full production we can help you with PCB assembly services, or a full turnkey electronics manufacturing service. As we use production grade tooling for prototypes, there are no re-tooling costs when moving to batch production.

Yes we can! Some clients provide us with all components, others prefer to save time, hassle and cost, by leaving PCB supply and component sourcing to us. There isn’t a PCB-compatible component we don’t have a supplier for, so it’s often the simplest solution, requiring a lot less logistical fuss. It often means a lower cost per component as well, thanks to our ability to source from an established supply chain.
